 Learn to lead, teach and inspire others.

An empowering process for those wanting to teach yoga in your community and world. Are you a current yoga teacher looking to master your skills, or a yoga student seeking to delve deeper in your practice? Our weeklong trainings are a great opportunity to capture these goals. This program composes the first part of 200hour teacher training.

 

The goal of this week is “Establishing power for yourself and others.” In this week you will:
  • Experience the foundations of assisting/adjusting
  • Experience the anatomy of yoga postures and movement of the body
  • Experience the Yoga Sutras and philosophy of the Sid Yoga “Nahi Warrior” sequence
  • Experience the depth and versatility of practicing yoga
  • Experience a translation of the timeless teachings into a current classroom experience
  • Experience voice coaching
  • Learning sequencing basics
  • Practice your teaching skills through live teaching sessions to your peers
  • Receive feedback throughout the program
This weeklong session is an inward journey that brings the focus to the internal by recognizing where we hold back, and where we can break through.

Parking
  •  Street parking: Meters run 8am- 6pm Friday and Saturday. Free street parking on Sunday.
  • Towson Town Center: Free. The mall parking garages, located 3 blocks away in walking distance.
  • Jimmy’s cab: 410-296-7200 convenient cab service for Towson and Baltimore area.

 

Eateries and Groceries
There are a number of amazing restaurants and food options near Sid Yoga Center, right in the heart of Towson’s city. Zias Cafe, San Sushi Too/Thai One On, 7 West Bistro Grille and Lotsa are within walking distance and are highly recommended. Towson has a Fresh Market (comparable to Whole Foods) and is only a 1/2 mile away. Atwater’s cafe and MOM’s organic market are about a 5 minute drive. A full operating grocery store, Safeway, is within 3/4 mile.
Weather & Clothing
Please review the weather forecast before attending your training sessions to know what to pack and wear. All training hours will be indoors. During program, plan to wear sportswear acceptable for practicing yoga (wicking material, no cotton) and bring layers to cover up during seated discussion or partner work. There are often 1-2 yoga asana practices throughout the day, so we recommend bringing at least two changes of yoga clothes.
Accommodations
 The Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel and The Towson University Marriott Conference Hotel are two great nearby lodging options. Other affordable options in Towson are Comfort Inn and Best Western. Both are located within a 1/2 mile of the studio. The Holiday Inn in Timonium is 5 miles away (estimated travel time is 10 minutes). Embassy suites in Hunt Valley is a 12 minute drive. Sid Yoga does not have a group rate set up at a specific hotel, we find that our participants tend to prefer to make their own arrangements. At your request and consent, we will inform you of other out-of-town participants with whom you can contact and discuss sharing rooms.

Arm Balancing Workshop with Heather Broadhead @ 4 WARRIORS

ARM BALANCING WORKSHOP

Curious about arm balances and how you can access these empowering postures? We’ll begin with a Vinyasa warm-up emphasizing the cornerstones of successful arm balances: Core, Open Shoulders and Balance; 3 essentials to lift-off.
Our final hour finds us exploring arm balances in deeper detail. We’ll learn the essentials to have you soaring into postures such as bakasana (crow), flying pigeon, side crow, firefly, forearm balance, and more.

This is a 2 hour workshop/yoga intensive that explores the foundations of arm balancing, and gives you tips and tricks to get your wings open and your body off the ground.

Bring your questions and take home a refreshed spirit and richer awareness of these striking asanas. Arm balances are liberating postures that teach us not only about our intrinsic power but about our innate playfulness, courage, fearlessness and agility.

The inverted postures of yoga are some of the most beneficial yet intimidating of the asanas. You will be introduced to and practice postures such as headstand, forearm stand, handstand, and more. You will be guided through alignment, technique, proper modifications, and feel how to develop the power in your core strength.

Learn to use the wall, or a buddy, as a way to continue practicing inversions beyond this class. Let go of the fear, we are here to support.

No inversion experience is necessary… This is where you come to learn. All are welcome!

The real battle of life isn’t fought in the physical dimension of the outer world. The Warrior’s greatest battle is within the confines of his or her own mind. When we’re locked in the three dimensions of space and fourth dimension of time we fight the present moment as if it’s our enemy rather than the gateway to inner freedom.
This Sattva Yoga journey is about taking that which keeps us locked in our internal prison of the mind and using the light of our consciousness to face the demons & fears head on. When we go through the fire we come out the other side with the realization that we are the directors of our own play and have the authentic power within us to heal ourselves and AWAKEN THE INNER WARRIOR WITHIN.
Sattva
Sattva (pronounced SATT-WA) in Sanskrit means whole, complete, truth, balance. Sattva yoga is an ever-evolving and inclusive practice of meditation, kriya, asana, movement, pranayama, radical aliveness and timeless wisdom. Sattva yoga is freedom, movement, depth, stillness, transcendence, joy, compassion, grace and truth.
Sattva Yoga includes ancient yogic techniques as well as current evolutionary practices to create a clear path for the individual to experience a full, healthy, abundant, and joyous life.

Backbend Workshop @ 4 Warriors

lizStudents will learn and feel how open hips help to access deeper back bends. Once the hips are open and loose Liz will teach everyone to bend safely, incorporate new back bends into their practice and how to modify and begin to get into postures using props.

After hips are open and backs have been bent,Liz will lead students into a restorative practice to restore their backs with support from props and how to open their back and shoulders.

Come to this workshop and learn to access locust, bow, king bow, half camel, full camel, wheel, king dancer, mermaid, drop backs, eka pada rajakapotasana, and various wheel variations! You will leave this workshop feeling open, invigorated, restored and ready to access back bends in your next yoga practice!

Sink into pure bliss.

Hip openers are the key to deepening your practice and to getting deeper into almost every pose. The hips steer the body, as we free the hips we will create space for an open back and relieving pressure in the knees. The benefits are multiple as the hips are believed to be the central storing point of emotion and trauma. Begin to unlock the tension in your body and set yourself free from the inside out. You will explore a variety of hip opening exercises and poses that encourage extension of the hips making them more flexible and open. Learn the appropriate alignment for both standing and seated hip-opening postures.
